Posted on December 4, 2023

Professor Maria Elena Versari was invited by curator Gloria Moure to participate in the major retrospective “Medardo Rosso: Pioneer of Modernist Sculpture” at Fundación Mapfre, Madrid. Versari’s essay for the catalog, “He Who Broadly Sees, Broadly Thinks. On the Limits of Sculpture and Medardo Rosso’s Legacy,” tackles Rosso’s reflection on the relationship among vision, space, photography and sculpture, outlining the sculptor’s major influence on modern artists, such as Arturo Martini, Alberto Giacometti, Constantin Brancusi and Lucio Fontana.

The exhibition is on view through January 7.
